Preschool Program 2.5 - 4 years

Your child is now entering the final stage of their early childhood developmental program at Upper Yonge Village Daycare Centre, and it is our goal to prepare them with the foundational skills for their journey into the elementary school system. We focus on developing structure, autonomy, and greater independence within the classroom setting, which are key to future scholastic success. We encourage positive self expression, sharing and mutual respect through your child's interaction with other children. Our Preschool Program teachers develop activities to stimulate your preschooler's hunger for learning through programming that includes: music, art, drama, cognitive-stimulation activities, and the exploration of the environment. Preschool : 24 children, 3 RECEs and 1 Part time ECA, ratio staff to child is: 1:8

Toddler Program 18 - 30 months

Your child is in the formative stage of becoming an independent learner, eager to explore the environment with new and emerging physical and intellectual capacities. Our Toddler Program teachers help your child develop their independence and individuality, through self-directed play and supervised group activities. Our learning objectives include: language development, socialization skills, self-help skills, fine and gross motor skill development, and hand/eye coordination. Children grow through age appropriate inside activities and secure outside playground activities including building cognitive skills, creative & sensory experiences, learning about science, dramatic arts, and motor skill development activities. Infant Program 0 - 18 months

These are your child's early developmental months when they learn about the world mostly through their developing senses. Our Infant Program teachers encourage play with toys that enhance your child's sensory experiences, and encourage socialization skills through activities such as listening to songs, dance, story-time, and art activities. Weather permitting, we encourage age appropriate outside activities such as daily walks in strollers or supervised playground time. This is likely the first time that your child is away from you for any extended period of time, and we help your child become comfortable and feel secure in a group setting, independent of parents/guardians. Through our Infant Program, your child becomes increasingly independent and gains the skills necessary to successfully transition into our Toddler Program. Our Infant Program is for children ages 0 - 18 months with a maximum occupancy of 10 infants, 3 RECEs and 1 Full Time ECA  and teacher-to-child ratio is: 1:3
